

RAPID CITY --- South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball standout Bethany Holyoak, a senior Industrial Engineering major from Moorcroft, Wyo., was named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention list Wednesday.

Tuesday began as a good day for me, and it wasn't just because food was involved. I had the opportunity to sit and listen to the South Dakota School of Mines talk about its plans to transition from the NAIA level to NCAA Division II.

RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team had three players listed as NAIA Scholar Athletes for the 2009-10 season. Seniors Leah Sundby and Bethany Holyoak along with junior Jerika Ihnen earned the prestigious honor.

When the South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team fell to Jamestown College 77-64 in the semifinals of the Dakota Athletic Conference Tournament, the Hardrockers' season was over.

RAPID CITY --- For the past four years at the South Dakota School of Mines, the men's basketball team has taken on several different looks. There was a veteran-laden squad that challenged for a Dakota Athletic Conference Tournament championship. There was a team that didn't start a single upperclassman and learned how difficult winning can be.

RAPID CITY --- South Dakota School of Mines weight thrower Everett Brill made his first trip to the NAIA National Indoor Championships Friday in Johnson City, Tenn., where the Elko, Nev., native finished the event in 20th place after a throw of 53-feet-5.50-inches (16.29 meters).
