ESPANOLA, N.M. --- After a sluggish start, the South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team went on an impressive scoring run and defeated the Northern New Mexico College Lady Eagles, 74-58, Friday evening in Espanola, N.M.
The Lady 'Rockers opened the game down by double figures, but were able to regroup and by half time, trailed by just one point, 30-29. The visitors rolled in the second half, outscoring NNMC, 45-28. and post their 11th win of the year.
SD Mines shot 33 percent from the field converting 22-66 while Northern New Mexico hit 21-55 for 38 percent. The Lady 'Rockers made good on 27 of 35 from the free throw line.
The win is the second in a row for SD Mines as the Lady 'Rockers improved to 11-8 on the season and head to Denver, Colo. Sunday to face the Johnson and Wales Lady Bobcats in a 1 p.m. matchup.
